Committees

Our Church Committees are where all our tasks are accomplished, and they accomplish much more than that.   They often provide the space and time to build and nurture spirits as well.  We have many committees that do important work.  Our Church relies upon visionary, energetic and committed members to serve on our various committees that work closely with staff and the Church Council to carry out our mission of shared ministry.

We are always eager to draw volunteers from our congregation to support the work of our committees. IMG_1914Most committees have between 3 to 10 members (and a Church Council liaison), and meet at least once a month.  Committees select their own chair or co-chairs and as per our Church by-laws no person may serve as chair of a committee for more than four consecutive years.  The minister(s) shall be member of the committees (ex-officio).  Some committees may also form sub-committees based on need and interest.

A Committee Fair is held each fall to describe, publicize and recruit new members for the work of these groups.  Many of the committees welcome new members at any time.

Detailed information of our various committees can be found at http://www.uucantonny.org/committees/ (opens in a new page)
